Aden Port to be run by foreign company [Archives:2005/823/Business & Economy]
The Ministry of Transportation is studying three bids offered by international companies to run the Aden Port of Containers. Preliminary indicators showed that the three bids seem to be close in terms of price. The winner will be announced in the next couple of days.
The three companies that are competing for the position are the Dubai Port, Kuwait and Gulf Bond Company, and a company from the Philippines.
The project aims to restore the role and status of the port and attract new, ships making the port a station for exporting and receiving containers.
The Yemeni Government shows a desire to invest in the Aden Port of Containers in the coming period and the port is expected to contribute significantly to the state budget.
